| THEY ARE DOMINATING POWER METAL AND SEEM TO BE ON A NEVER ENDING TOUR OF THE WORLD. MATT REWISNSKI CAUGHT UP WITH DRAGONFORCE AS THEY TOOK SOME TIME OUT OF THEIR BUSY SCHEDULE TO TALK TO SAVIOURS OF ROCK . |
_______________________________________________________________________________________________________
April 2007
First of all, how are you guys? How’s life on the road treating you?
SAM: Cool, same old shit, getting drunk playing some shows properly and rogering whores.
|
| |
You guys are currently touring with a couple bands that pretty much epitomize American metalcore. how have the crowds been digging a power metal band like you guys in the midst of all the breakdowns and whatnot?
SAM: It’s been cool, even since the first time we came here, we noticed that a lot of our fans were not the typical power metal audience and most of them listen to all the metalcore stuff as well, so it’s been a pretty good line up.
How are the shows on the no fear tour going compared to, say, ozzfest this past summer?
SAM: It’s been cool, they all been big rooms or amphitheatres and it all been sold out so far which is cool. |

Do you dig playing bigger shows like ozzfest, or smaller shows like the palladium or House of blues?
Herman: We like all of them, they are all different, small are cool cos you get to play right in front of the fans.
How are american metal fans different from european metal fans? Anything really obvious?
HERMAN: Not much different to be honest. All our fans are cool! We have a diverse audience here and there.
after playing a bunch of headlining shows before “Inhuman rampage” came out, is it weird to be opening for other bands again?
HERMAN: Yeah it sucks opening! Hahaha
We have done opening slots with iron maiden and other big bands so it’s actually cool really. The tour with killswitch engage right now has been lots fun! |

Of course, we have to talk about “inhuman rampage”. were you guys prepared for how hard that album would hit? I mean, it pretty much hit every metal fan on this side of the pond like a ton of bricks?
Vadim: We always try hard to come out with the best possible result when it comes down to songwriting and performing. We do what we like and hope that people like it to. We’ve seem to have reached a lot of variety of fans.
It’s awesome to see some punk and hardcore kids getting into the pit at the show. Everyone is having a blast.
How is roadrunner working out for you guys?
Vadim: The guys at roadrunner are really cool to us and always have been supportive of our vision.

Guitar hero....keyboard style

 |
How would you respond to some critics saying that “Inhuman Rampage” is just playing fast at the expense of taste?
Vadim: We love to shred and shredding is what we do. There are plenty of bands that play mid-tempo power metal whilst looking at their fretboards and not move at all. If it’s too fast, you’re too fucking old!
What kinds of gear did you use on the record? guitars, amps, effects, that sort of thing?
HERMAN: Ibanez guitars with midi preamps,
Mesa Boogie 50/50 power amps,
Digital delay, Cry Baby wah,
Digitech whammy pedal. Those sort of things.

Do you find it odd that the u.s. really isn’t big on power metal in general, yet you guys have managed to succeed in the U.S. regardless, especially with the new album?
HERMAN: I think our style is very different from the old style that’s why.
We mix so many styles of music together into one!
Do you guys see yourselves as a band like Slayer that will put out basically the same record over and over with minor variations to a signature sound, or more like Metallica that’ll do whatever the heck you want?
HERMAN: We will keep our sound but evolving to make it better each time.
What kind of practice routine do you guys have, individually or as a band?
Herman: Most of us practice, except for Sam who doesn’t practice as much as he should.
|
Herman unhappy with Sam??? |
|
Ok. Build your fantasy tour, it’s dragonforce and….????
We want to tour with band that has cool people who we get along with. We don’t need a fantasy tour for that. |
| |
Iron Maiden or Judas Priest?
Both. They don’t sound the same.
And finally, tell us what's up with Dragonforce after the no fear tour?
Tour in Germany then back to Australia, going to New Zealand, Indonesia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and more touring in Europe doing summer festivals.
THANKS TO THE DRAGONFORCE GUYS FOR TALKING WITH SAVIOURS OF ROCK. THEY'RE A GREAT BAND AND WE WISH THEM ALL THE BEST FOR THE FUTURE. GO CHECK THEM OUT AT
