SO ITS BEEN 25 YEARS DOING THE MSG THING AND YOU HAVE THE NEW RECORD OUT TALES OF ROCK N ROLL, IT SEEMS TO BE GOING DOWN WELL, HOWS THE REACTION SO FAR?
Great

YOU DID WELL TO INCLUDE EVERYONE THAT MUST HAVE TAKEN SOME GOOD PR WORK?
Everyone was happy to participate and they all did a great job.
By the way I invested everything I had, did all the details, arranged Studios etc. and it was a lot of fun. What I got out of it money wise was a joke but it did not matter because I love this record and it will become a Classic in a few years. Rick Plitzer was a kind, enjoyable help. Fantastic Guy. Also Siggi Schwarz and Romi helped me out with outstanding dedication.
YOU ALSO MANAGED TO PACK A STACK OF SONGS ON THERE TOO.
It was meant to be a concept album but after having the idea of all original singers being included because I realised that it was a 25 years MSG celebration it changed and I asked them to sing there own little stories.
And when Jari came up with the idea for an album title "Tales of Rock'n Roll" it all seemed perfect.

THE SECOND ENDLESS JAM JUST CAME OUT LAST YEAR AS WELL AS HEAVY HITTERS, THEN THE YEAR BEFORE WAS THE FIRST ENDLESS JAM AS WELL AS THE LIVE ALBUM, AND THERE WAS A FEW THE YEAR BEFORE THAT AS WELL! YOU'RE A REAL WORK HORSE!
Out of the blue I had the need to record Solos only. At the same time Mike Varney wanted to do something like that. We had a great time and they are one of my favourite works. It's so much fun to just play Solos, totaly unprepared and just do it. They were all cover songs. Mike is a great Guitar Producer. If he says this is it, it is. He is a good guitarist himself.
It must have gotten around to other people that I was doing only solos and so I was approached by others to do something like that. I ended up with Siggi(lovley Guy)and Bob Kulick who also appeared to be a positive, energetic and a motivated friendly guy. |

JUST TOUCHING ON HEAVY HITTERS, WHAT THE HELL WAS THE DEAL WITH THAT ANYWAY?
Heavy Hitters is a great album but unfortunately totally corrupt. But I was very happy to see that I was sharing my Guitar work with all these great musicians. Amazing. Like I said before that when I found out that that whole thing was running under MSG I did not know if I should laugh or cry.
HOW CAN THEY JUST RELEASE THINGS UNDER YOUR NAME?
I don't know. I am a musician.
LUCKY THE ALBUM WAS DECENT?
Yes
WE'RE TALKING TO BOB KULICK IN A COUPLE OF WEEKS, DON'T WORRY WE'LL BE PUTTING IT TO HIM TOO?He already apologized and I guess it comes down to the Record Company. Who knows? The music is great!!!!
I HEARD YOU EX WALKED AWAY WITH YOUR SONG RIGHTS (rumoured)? WE DON'T WANT TO LINGER ON THESE THINGS, BUT HOW THE HELL DOES THAT WORK!?
People have always stolen from me and so did I (bad Karma) until I was 16. It changed overnight and I changed 180 degrees. I became a caring, generous person. If my Ex walked away with my song rights I have not checked but I think that is not possible but who knows. I am a musician.

PLUS YOUR FLYING V'S TOO, RIGHT?
2 V's got left behind at the Heathrow Airport while I was picking up my children Tyson and Taro to greet them and forgot all about my Guitars. |
 |
SO WHAT LED YOU TO THE V? IT'S GROWN TO BE A STAPLE IN YOUR FAMILY?
Simply put, a 50 watt Marshall and my brothers V!
O YOU STILL TALK WITH YOUR BROTHER; WAS IT HIM WHO INSPIRED YOU TO PLAY ALL THOSE YEARS BACK? Big brother has influence. But I had the passion, discipline and the desire to become what I felt deep inside.
YOUR SON TYSON IS ALREADY MAKING WAVES ALSO; HE WAS IN FASTER INFERNO
He is great
THERE MUST BE SOMETHING IN THE WATER IN YOUR HOMETOWN?
My brother can go by boat from where he lives all the way to where we grew up. About 60 Km. Maybe there issomething in that river.
WELL, TYSON HAS A LOT TO DRAW FROM, YOU'VE DONE ACCOUSTIC INSTRUMENTALS, THE BIG ROCKBAND THING WITH U.F.O, COVER ALBUMS, ALL THE MSG RLEASES?
Tyson is going to be his own King.

SO WHATS NEXT FOR MICHAEL SCHENKER NOW?
To finish the Tales of Rock'n Roll World Tour and than see what needs to come next.
AND FINALLY, ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO ADD?
Keep on Rocking I love Pete Holmes. Unfortunately I had a problem with Rev. They are both excellent musicians and I wish them well. Pete is Rev's buddy and so I don't think that Pete will be in MSG without Rev.
I have excellent replacements and hope to see all you fans soon. |
