SINCE MAKING HIS POWER HOUSE DEBUT IN THE HALFORD BAND, ‘METAL’ MIKE CHLASCIAK HAS RARELY SLOWED DOWN. HIS OWN METAL BAND PAINMUSEUM HAS SHOWN GREAT PROMISE, BUT HIS CURRENT JOB IS THE MAIN GUITARIST FOR ROCKSTAR SEBASTIAN BACHS BAND. I CAUGHT UP WITH MIKE AFTER A SCORCHING GIG IN MELBOURNE.

SO ANYWAY, WHAT DID YOU THINK OF THE MELBOURNE FANS?
Melbourne fans were damn amazing. What a great time we had playing for you guys. I will admit, that I will always be looking back at our very short Australian tour with lots of great memories. I can't belive that I have never played your crazy country before, ha. We will be back, I know. I felt a lot of love, emotion, devotion from everyone, it was really killer.
WELL IT ENDED A LOT BETTER THAN IT DID IN SYDNEY?
Yes, everything went out without a hitch. I also had a great time in Sydney. You know, its hard for me to have a bad time ... as long as you have plenty of Metal and good friends.

I THINK SOME PEOPLE WERE A LITTLE SURPRISED AT HOW GOOD THE SHOW WAS.
This new band line-up is un-stopabble. Everyone is there for the main reason being is to kick ass musically. the partying, the crazeeness is always nice and indeed somewhat necessary but number one priority is to kick ass live first. That has always been my priority as a musician. Yes, its easy to get caught up in the crazy schedules, the whole hoopla of Rock N Roll, but very often I pull back and say .... Prioritize, you know I might not go and drink till 6AM the night before the show, not because I don't want to, but because I don't want to dissapoint the fans and myself with a shitty show from my side the next night. So, I guess to make the long story short, we are committed to kicking ass, ha.
SO THERE'S A NEW SEB ALBUM GOING OUT, CAN YOU FILL US IN A LITTLE ABOUT IT?
It is going to be a great album. Will satisfy Baz's fans and will gain us all new ones. Performances are there, attitude is there, songs are there. It is hard to describe, but it will do Baz justice as an artist for sure and great things for us and a band.
PLUS YOU'RE ON THE NEW HALFORD ALBUM, AND PAINMUSEUM. YOU'RE A BUSY MAN MIKE.
Yeah, I have to keep busy or I'll quickly fade into depression. Weird fact, but its true. And you know, I love what I do, so it is just natural for me to keep going. I have a lot to say musically and artistically. As I play with Bach, Rob I'll also continue to develop as a solo artist. |

SO HOW DO YOU FIT IN A LIFE WITH ALL THAT. DO YOU HAVE A FAMILY? IS IT HARD TO JUGGLE?
Yes I do have a family and a 2 year old son named Steel. Which by the way was named by The Metal God, ha. It is the hardest thing to leave when I'm going away on tour or business. It sucks actually, but this is the life I choose. Having a family is great, as it is a grounding unit when I return home from the tour. After so many hotel rooms, flights, parties and all that ... its great to have a place that you can call home, and in the end it is the only thing that keeps me sane. It is not an easy life, but a rewarding one, so so far things have been going really well. You know looking back at what I have been able to do and achieve in the last few short years ... I'm realizing that I'm very fortunate.

SO, SEBASTIAN LET THE CAT OUT OF THE BAG. WHAT ARE THE CHANCES THAT YOU WILL BE BACK IN SUMMER WITH GNR?
That's why we love him, he always runs his insane mouth, ha.
Who knows, while I can not personally confirm anything at all to you, crazier things have happened.
I MET ZAKK WYLDE BECAUSE HE PLAYED IN THE SAME PLACE LAST NIGHT. WHAT DO YOU THINK OF HIM, I THINK HES DOING A LOT FOR METAL?
Well obvoiusly Zakk is a great guitar player who works his ass off.

SO HALFORD AN SEB IS A WORLD APART. HOW WAS IT PLAYING FOR HIM AT THE START?
Excellent. I mean its The Metal God, what a start that is! We made some good music, had great times on the road, played some amazing places. The world moved very, very fast at that time, get the band together, make the record, tour, another album, you know. It was alot of fun, very educational. Prepared me for the rest of my career, it was like a Metal boot camp.

OH YEAH, IM NOT HERE FOR THE PAINMUSEUM, OR THE SEBASTIAN BACH INTERVIEW. IM HERE FOR THE MIKE & TED SHOW INTERVIEW! ? PLEASE EXPLAIN?
Hmm, we'll Mike and Ted will produce a Heavy Metal variety show with oiled up strippers and Heavy Metal. Please ask Ted for more details as he's the mastermind, and I just pay everyone's Per Diem's.
YEAH, LAST TIME I TALKED TO TED POLEY HE BOUGHT UP SOMETHING ABOUT YOU GUYS AND THE PUSSYCAT DOLLS, YOU GUYS SEEM LIKE AN OD COUPLE HA, HA. HE WAS LIKE ? I THOUGHT THAT DUDE WOULD KICK MY ARSE! HA
Yeah, so I'm playing in Osaka at the Udo Festival with Bach, you know. And right in front of me who do I see walking - Ted Poley. It was just weird, as the dude lives an hour away from me on the East Coast of the US. So here is Ted, just throwing his horns up in freaking Japan, I go what the hell? Very funny. So after the show, Pussycat Dolls follow the Sebastian band as the next artists on stage to perform and Ted I had one hell of a time watching the Dolls, and all that nonsence. There's pics, theres captions, there's broken dreams and hearts but in the end its just a crazy story spinning out of control, really.

OK THANKS AGAIN FOR TALK TO SAVIOURS OF ROCK. HOPEFULLY WE WILL SEE YOU AGAIN IN AUSTRALIA SOON?
Thank you guys. We all really do hope to come back soon, as I said earier you guys kicked ass. You country is great and you know how to love your Metal.
