OVERVIEW

This album serves as a final and farewell effort for Danger Danger’s time with Paul Laine, a fitting album too. Live and Nude in London, the boys rock out for a great show.

SONGS

The disc is surprisingly filled with primarily early Poley-era material, which Paul manages to nail anyway. Things unexpectedly start off with the mid paced rocker Beat The Bullet, great feeling and effort; Paul nails it. Sensational meaty guitars roar in for Grind and really show the up side of this band live, great stuff. Paul steps up for the piano led Poley ballad Under The Gun, and comes up trumps again. Superb. Don’t Walk Away is more of the same high quality, especially nice guitar. For some reason the Laine staple Dead, Drunk & Wasted sounds more live? I don’t know why, but it’s a decent version. They bash through Goin’ Goin’ Gone and a kick arse version of Bang Bang. Then they churn out a heartfelt Don’t Break My Heart Again. Further through the set and the band turns Rock America into the Star Spangled Banner, in the U.K? Either way it’s great. Even better is the crowd-aided anthem I Still Think About You. They typically finish up with Naughty Naughty.

CONCLUSION

This album really is a great listen, every song is great and I think it is the best Laine album ever released. Great songs and superior performances to the studio, especially of note are the guitars, which seem to really roar into life in the live setting. However the biggest criticism is this; from the get go the sound production is suspiciously perfect. The crowd is loud between tracks and inaudible during. You can actually hear the mix being turned up and down! The sound coming from the mics in between songs sounds nothing like the sound coming from them during the songs. I don’t know if they overdubbed or what, but it really is perfect especially the vocals. Hmmm.
Alas, I think this is a kick arse record, turn it up and rock out with the Danger Danger boys, one last time with Paul!
