OVERVIEW
Switzerland’s Gotthard has managed to top the charts in its own country for years, but out of Europe they are nearly unknown. It is the world’s loss.
SONGS
Master Of Illusion has everything you want in a great melodic hard rocker. Brilliant opener. Gone Too Far is a tough a gritty rocker, with a good chorus. The title track has a sensational driving riff, love this thumping gem! With its military-march drums and string quartet, Falling is everything a great ballad should be. The Call is a different kettle of fish, but is another solid ballad. The next three are all great balls-out rockers. The very Whitesnake sounding Letter To A Friend weaves in and out of a soft and heavy vibe. Tomorrow is much better though. The album continues in the same fashion with great rockers like Now and ballads like Where Is Love.
CONCLUSION
It’s a crime that this band hasn’t gotten more international attention. Not a weak song on the album, and when they get going, these guys rock like a hurricane. The vocalist seems to weave in and out of different voicing’s, but sounds much better as himself than as a try-hard David Coverdale. Either way, this album is as solid as they come. If you love European hard rock, it doesn’t get much better than this. Get it now.
