OVERVIEW

After the success of Higher and Overload, Harem Scarem come back for their 11th release, and its more of what you would expect.

SONGS

Things start off in very sombre nature with the title track, a nice decent melodic track with typical perfect production, great riff after the chorus. Nice solo also. Gang vocals usher in Next Time Around, which is just more of the same squeaky-clean pop/rock you expect from Harem Scarem, and they do it so well, nice song. The ballads start with the mid paced Caught Up In Your World, which turns into a great number, with a sensational chorus and some nice guitar lines, very moody. Reality is an up tempo feel good number, just doing more of what they do best, melodies everywhere. Another ballad with Hanging On, its decent, a little average. I swear Don’t Throw It Away is Enuff Z Nuff! Nice stuff either way, great pop rock. Give Love/Get Love is very Queen, not bad. 21 is much better, great lyrics and powerful vocals, this is the Harem at their best, nice one. Starlight takes them back to their melodic and inspirational styles, another great Scarem number. Going Under is just more of the same old, a little filler, decent chorus though. What’s better is Tomorrow May Be Gone, leaning a little to the darker side of Scarem which does so much better than there usual cheesy style, great song, one of the best here. The Japanese version follows up with a nice version of Higher.

CONCLUSION

Harem Scarem have put out a stack of records now, and don’t seem to change much on each release. It still sounds like its 1989 to me, but they do it well. The production is perfect and clean and it really is a pleasure to hear. This reminds me a little of Paul Laine era Danger Danger, only not as rocking. Long time fans will love it, more of what they do best.
