OVERVIEW
Mustasch is a Heavy Metal band, founded in the fall of 1998 on the Mustasch farm on the island Orust in Sweden. All the band came from Punk band Grindstone and decided to take on the world with some good old-fashioned hard rock. 8 years later and freshly free from EMI they kicked out a 6-song disc to the needing public.
SONGS
After a nice sombre intro, this C.D explodes into riff rock heaven with the sensational Nailed To The Pain. A few listens to this one and you’ll be addicted. Big thick Les Paul tones and a killer hooks fill this song, and it sets the scene for the rest. The middle section breakdown is killer as well, that breaks into a feverish solo, I love this song. My Disorder immediately gives the impression of Black Sabbath. Ralf’s vocals are often reminiscent of Therapy? The chorus is a hook laden mainstream style affair, with a sack full of heaviness. Do Or Die cuts in with a boppy cowbell, and turns into another great rocker with some nice guitar lines and vocal melodies. The title track and lead single Parasite is an infectious driving rocker, this’ll get stuck in your head, sounds like some of Therapy?s better songs. Nice. Things keep rolling with Kill The Light which starts off with a painfully slow pace and isn’t one of the better tracks here, but it is heavy in the old Sabbath style, damn bass heavy in fact! A live version of Dagger finishes off this mini-album in great affair, the crowd ads everything to this song.
CONCLUSION
Another underrated band that deserves much attention. If you like your rock served hard and classic, then get into Mustasch, and this disc is as good a starting point as any. Songs like Nailed To The Pain and Parasite are absolute killer, lets hope they keep it up. Nice surprise.
