OVERVIEW

10th album down and Pink Cream 69 have moved to Frontier, which as usually has turned out to be an extremely positive move. Fortunately the album rocks a lot harder than the album cover or its namesake ;)

SONGS

The album starts out great with Children Of The Dawn, a great moody chorus and the chunky riff in the outro in brutal. They up the tempo for No Way Out which is a great rocker with a another all-in chorus; this one’ll get you rockin’. The opening of Crossfire sounds like the new Paul Stanley album, then guys into a kind of Scott-Soto thing. Pretty good song, great vocal harmonies and production, another catchy pop/hard rock number. I’m Not Afraid, is more of the same. Its not as hard-rockng as the previous outings, but it has some sensational riffs and guitar licks. Things come back in stomping fashion with the infectious and hard hitting New Religion, this serves as a catchy centrepiece to the whole album. Great chorus, beat and lyrics. Sets the tone for the whole album. The Hour Of Freedom starts out boring and plodding and typically European, its seems it may bog the album down, but after the great chorus it all starts to make sense, and turns out to be another winner. Stop The Madness busts out with a great riff, then starts to deviate even more into thea European metal style that is so familiar, still a decent tune, the great riffs keep it afloat. At 1 minute 27 seconds, Desert Land serves to break up the album a little, this terribly cheesy affair would’ve been better left off however. The intro to Out Of This World sounds like it could really go somewhere, but gets lost in mediocrity, the punchy chorus though, is something else. The album continues in the same fashion, and finishes up with the slower Train To Nowhere, great finish it is too.

CONCLUSION

This album is a great rocking start to the year for Pink Cream. The production and songwritng is absolutely sensational and shows what they can really do after all this time. The first half of the album is the easy stand out, with the exception of the monumental album closer. Most of the songs are very similar and share a close tempo. Either way, I recommend hard rock fans of all pick this up. Whether you like the more L.A. style hard rock like myself, or the more European style, this actually caters for both. Great effort.
