OVERVIEW

I never liked Warrant. They jumped on the last tier of 80’s glam rock bands and seemed to be recycling everything that had been done before. The single Cherry Pie was extremely cheesy and Poison had done it better, years before. That was however, until I sat down and properly listened to the full album. It’s an absolute gem. Jani sure can write great melodic and hard rocking songs. Chock full of honest feeling and sleazy hardness, this is everything that the song Cherry Pie isn’t.

SONGS

Obviously some love it, either way most have heard it. But things change once the title track has finished. Uncle Tom’s Cabin stands as Jani’s strongest song writing effort. Complete with a great video and strong lyrics, this is a winner all over. Things get even more emotional with the superb I Saw Red and the great Bed Of Roses. The band wears their hearts on their sleaves for these and fairs better for it. Things get raunchy again with the infectious rocker Sure Feels Good To Me. Love in Stereo is great as is Mr Rainmaker. It finishes with a juvenile comedic audio splice of live swearing and yelling.

CONCLUSION

If you like melodic hard rock from the 80’s, then this is nearly a strong a package as you can get. Coming along a little too late, Warrant probably never got the recognition they deserved. Some might be surprised with the high rating I gave this album, but I don’t think there is really any filler to see at all. If you have a bad opinion of Warrant like I did, I recommend you get into this as fast as you can. They sure don’t make ‘em like this anymore.
