OVERVIEW
JaeL is an Australian band in the vain of Evanescence, POD and even earlier Papa Roach. Now, with the release of, 'infecting your mind' JaeL's new EP has generated widespread airplay and attracted the attention of an international audience. Increasing attention from America prompted their 8 week US tour encompassing 28 states from to LA to Miami, performing/showcasing before the likes of Sony Music and Epic Records and taking out the prestigious Best International Band and Best Overall Band Performance at the New York Independent Music Festival. Now, back from their American tour, JaeL's sights are set on the world.
SONGS
The lead off single Broken starts off the album in strong form. You can hear the Evanescence style immediately, although they do seem to offer something else. Lead singer Bianca is not only beautiful but a more than adequate singer, giving the band a double bang for their buck. Sorry’s Too Late is another great song in the same style. Unevolved starts off with an annoying and under produced intro, but thankfully it slowly forms into another great song, which peaks towards the end. Echo warrants in a great crunchy guitar intro and punches out a clever echoing chorus, yet the formula is starting to become repetitive by now. Make Believe starts off slow and eventually forms into a 4minute masterpiece, easily the best track here. The album closes with Papa Roach styled Nu Hope, with some great-pounded lyrics and superbly sung verses, another highlight
CONCLUSION
A very strong introduction for JaeL. I was surprised to hear the quality of this release and recommend it to anyone of the genre. Although the formula can grate at times, and it might prove hard to get through an entire album the same, certain cuts, such as Make Believe help raise the bar. I think we’ll see a lot more of JaeL in the future.
