OVERVIEW

I could copy and past all of my reviews from 80’s era KISS, because they’re all very much the same affair. A few good Stanley cuts, lumped in with some Simmons afterthoughts. This album does have some really strong cuts, but it’s very hard to listen to the album without skipping through a few. At least they got a few right, and probably aren’t as bad as some would make you believe.

SONGS

The album starts out really strong with King Of The Mountain, and you’re thinking ‘maybe this album will be pretty good’. Things tip down a little with Any Way You Slice It, but Stanley picks up the pieces again with the catchy and melodic Who Wants To Be Lonely, which still sounds good today. Trial By Fire heralds in Simmons cheesy fire and weapons themes, again. Paul soars on Loves a Deadly Weapon, while Tears Are Falling was the albums lead off single, and although cheesy, has a lot to love. Uh! All Night finishes up with some 80’s fun.

CONCLUSION

This is yet another uneven affair for KISS. King Of The Mountain and Tears Are Falling are really strong, but are let down by stacks of filler and treble high production. If you can get into the spirit and style of the 80’s albums, there's actually quite a lot to enjoy.
